JULY 21 PRAYER GUIDE
We want to lean into the opportunities that God gives us to be part of His work of transformation in our church, our community, and our country. This happens as we lean in being the church seven days a week instead of one day a week…
This Wednesday, our nation’s president will be speaking just down the street at Wheeler High School. Our heart is for the good of all people, and we want to love our neighbors well, so we plan to leave our parking lot open to the public, where our staff will be handing out water bottles and snacks to event attendees and protestors alike.
As we prepare to be the Church on our street this week, we want to invite you to join us in prayer for our community and our country. We will have a worship and prayer service in the park on Tuesday evening, July 21, at 7PM. Regardless of whether you join us in prayer in person or from a distance, we have created the following Scripture-based prayer guide as a resource.

Firm Foundation (He Won't)
by Austin Davis, Chandler Moore, and Cody Carnes
Verse 1
Christ is my firm foundation
The rock on which I stand
When everything around me is shaken
I've never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus
'Cause He's never let me down
He's faithful through generations
So why would He fail now
Chorus 1
He won't He won't
Verse 2
I've still got joy in chaos
I've got peace that makes no sense
So I won't be going under
I'm not held by my own strength
'Cause I've built my life on Jesus
He's never let me down
He's faithful in every season
So why would He fail now
Chorus 2
He won't He won't
He won't fail
He won't fail (no)
Misc 1
(Oh) Rain came and wind blew
But my house was built on You
(And) I'm safe with You
I'm going to make it through
(REPEAT)
Misc 2
Yeah I'm going to make it through
'Cause I'm standing strong on You
Yeah I'm going to make it through
'Cause my house is built on You
Chorus 3
He won't He won't
He won't fail
He won't fail no He won't (edited) -
Nothing Else
by Cody Carnes, Jessie Early, and Hank Bentley
Chorus 1
I'm caught up in Your presence
I just want to sit here at Your feet
I'm caught up in this holy moment
I never want to leave
Oh I'm not here for blessings
Jesus You don't owe me anything
More than anything that You can do
I just want You
Verse 1
I'm sorry when I've just gone through the motions
I'm sorry when I just sang another song
Take me back to where we started
I open up my heart to You
Verse 2
I'm sorry when I've come with my agenda
I'm sorry when I forgot that You're enough
Take me back to where we started
I open up my heart to You
Bridge
I just want You
Nothing else
Nothing else
Nothing else will do -
Christ be Magnified
by Cody Carnes, Cory Asbury, and Ethan Hulse
Verse 1
Were creation suddenly articulate
With a thousand tongues to lift one cry
Then from north to south and east to west
We'd hear Christ be magnified
Verse 2
Were the whole earth echoing His eminence
His name would burst from sea and sky
From rivers to the mountain tops
We'd hear Christ be magnified
Chorus 1
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
Verse 3
When ev'ry creature finds its inmost melody
And ev'ry human heart its native cry
O then in one enraptured hymn of praise
We'll sing Christ be magnified
(Bridge)
I won't bow to idols
I'll stand strong and worship You
And if it puts me in the fire
I'll rejoice 'cause You're there too
I won't be formed by feelings
I hold fast to what is true
If the cross brings transformation
Then I'll be crucified with You
(You can hang me there with You)
(Bridge)
'Cause death is just the doorway
Into resurrection life
If I join You in Your suff'rings
Then I'll join You when You rise
And when You return in glory
With all the angels and the saints
My heart will still be singing
My song will be the same -
For The One
by Paul McClure and Jenn Johnson
Verse 1
Let me be filled
With kindness and compassion for the one
The one for whom You loved and gave Your Son
For humanity increase my love
Chorus 1
Help me to love with open arms like You do
A love that erases all the lines and sees the truth
Oh that when they look in my eyes
They would see You
Even in just a smile
They would feel the Father’s love
Verse 2
Oh how You love us
From the homeless to the famous and in-between
You formed us You made us carefully
‘Cause in the end we’re all Your children
(Bridge)
So let all my life tell of who You are
And the wonder of Your never-ending love
Oh let all my life tell of who you are
That You’re wonderful and such a good Father
(REPEAT)
That You are wonderful and such a good Father
Pray for Christ to be our foundation and hope, rather than any political ideology.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders: and his name shall be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, the Prince of peace." Isaiah 9:6
Pray that the Church, our community, and our nation would walk in the kind of unity that brings peace.
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:1-3
Pray for wisdom that comes from God, rather than the wisdom of the world.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5
Pray for those in positions of authority, that they would lead in such a way as to bring peace and godliness.
"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Pray for those in need in our community, that they would experience God as their provider and advocate through the love of His people.
"If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." Isaiah 58:10
Pray that the Church would be known for its compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience..." Colossians 3:12-14
Pray for safety for all who come to Holt Road on Wednesday.
