Advent: Joy

Sermon Recap

On Sunday, Keely continued our Advent series, “What Great Love” with a look at the third theme of Advent: Joy. Speaking from Luke 2:8–11 and 1 John 2:12-14 (NLT), she shared how our joy is not fleeting or fragile, but a gift grounded in God's grace to us. We have joy because we know God, we are victorious, and we have been saved.

SEE IT (what is God saying?)

  1. Is there anything bringing disruption or disappointment into your life this Advent? Have those things made it hard to hold onto joy—Why or why not?

  2. Which of the reasons for rejoicing from 1 John 2 stands out most to you: that your sins are forgiven, that you know God, or that you are victorious?

  3. What memories of joy do you treasure from past holiday seasons? How do you see God's grace in those moments?

BE IT (what is he calling you to do about it?)

  1. What is one step you can take this week to remember God's grace in your daily life?

  2. Ask God if there are any areas of your life where you are living in defeat that He wants to transform into places of victory. What does He reveal to you?

  3. Where is God inviting you to fuel someone else’s joy, being an agent of grace in their life?
