Sermon Recap
On Sunday, Benton continued The Transformed Life series in the Gospel of John. In John 4, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at a well and begins a transforming conversation that breaks down boundaries. Through this story, we see that transformational method of ministry around posture, position, and process. Jesus models a way of engaging with people around us who are longing for Jesus, who may look, think, or act differently than us.
⸻SEE IT (what do you see God saying and transforming?)
Jesus “had to go through Samaria” (John 4:4). What does this show you about God’s willingness to cross barriers to reach people?
Jesus connects to her humanity (John 4:6-7). How does His posture of openness invite transformation rather than defensiveness?
Jesus tells the truth about her story (John 4:16–18). How does He speak truth in a way that heals instead of shames?
Jesus reveals Himself as the Messiah (John 4:25–26). Why is clarity kindness?
Jesus responds to her deflections. What does this moment show you about Jesus walking with us? How might this be helpful in witnessing to others who may not know Him?
⸻BE IT (what is God calling us to do about it?)
Open your posture (John 4:9–10). Name one person who is someone different from you that God might be inviting you to listen to with compassion?
Clarify your position (John 4:13–14, 24). How can you stay rooted in truth and grace with conviction when discussing difficult topics?
Join God’s process (John 4:35). Where can you slow down and notice what God is already doing in your community or relationships?
Share your story (John 4:28–29). How could you tell your story of meeting Jesus in a way that invites others to experience Him too?
