In our To Be Human series, we’ve shifted from looking at who were made to be, to how we relate to God. This week, Benton will look back at Genesis 3 to see the invitation God extends to us, and how respond to God’s Grace in the midst of our sin.

God said to not “eat of the fruit”, then Eve said to “not touch the fruit”. Adam and Eve ended up putting “a fence around the fence”. Where have you seen this play out in your life and why do you think humanity leans into adding things that god didn’t say? (Genesis 3:3)
Why do you think the idea of “nakedness” is so central to this story in Genesis 3?
Why would Adam and Eve hide themselves with fig leaves and hide themselves from God’s presence? (Genesis 3:7-8)

What are you hiding from God that is producing a burden too heavy to carry and difficult to keep it “all together” (like the fig leaves in verse 7)?
In James 5:13-18, it talks about crying out and confessing so that there may be healing. Who is someone that you can talk to this week about the burdens too heavy to bear and when will talk to them?
What would your life look like if that was surrender and that area of your life transformed?
