The Word

SERMON RECAP

Benton on Sunday started a new series called ” The Transformed Life” in the gospel of John where we see God’s Glory (Jesus) transform lives around Him. John’s prologue (John 1:1–18) reveals that Jesus is not just a principle but a person who is fully God—the eternal “Logos” who is with God and is God, the source of life, the light in the darkness, and the Word made flesh. The world often rejects Him through relativism or rigid moralism, but God’s answer is grace upon grace and adoption as His children. In Jesus, God “tabernacles” among us, revealing His glory in action is full of grace and truth, and calling us to realign our lives around Him as the Logos who brings order, life, and new creation.

⸻SEE IT (what do you see God saying and transforming?)

  1. John says the “Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (v. 14). What does this reveal about the heart of God toward humanity?

  2. Where do you see “darkness” (confusion, brokenness, rejection) in the world today, and how does Jesus, defined by John, as “light” bring clarity and hope?

  3. How does John’s claim that Jesus is the Logos (the reason, order, and purpose behind all things) challenge cultural views of meaning, morality, and truth?

⸻BE IT (what is God calling us to do about it?)

  1. Where in your own life do you need to “reset” and realign with Jesus as Logos—the origin of order and source of life?

  2. What area do you default to…grace or truth? How can you grow in the other? How can you display God’s glory (grace + truth) in practical ways in your neighborhood, workplace, or family this week?

  3. Since we are called to be children of God by grace, how might our church embody this truth together for a world that feels fractured, lonely, or disillusioned?
